Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

As you may be aware, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden, unexpected death of an infant that remains unexplained after all known and possible causes have been ruled out. It is the number one cause of death for infants one month to one year of age, claiming the lives of 2,100 babies in the United States each year. Historically SIDS has been a mystery, leaving behind devastated families and bewildered physicians.

On March 11, 2008, we lost our healthy four-month-old baby boy, Jason Allen Lutz, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

For the past two years our family has hosted Jason’s Race, an annual 5K walk/run, to raise SIDS awareness. So far we have been able to raise nearly $40,000 to fund SIDS research.
